Pain in the Hip Joints

The Hip Joint is the biggest joint in the human body. Its built from the head of the femur and the joint acetabulum of the hip, and its the main connection between lower leg and the upper body. Both Joint surfaces are covered with cartilage , which together with the synovial fluid could decrease the friction in the movement.

With time passing by this cartilage is wearing off, and the muscles and the tendons are getting easier to become injured.

One of the most common reasons for pain in the hip are:

  • Arthrosis changes – as we mentioned with time passing by this cartilage is wearing off, the synovial fluid is decreasing and the friction between the joint surfaces is increasing. This leads to faster wearing off of the joint, soreness and discomfort.
  • Bursitis – the inflamation of the bags ( bursas) in between the joints, leads to increase of the pressure ( because of increase in the liquid) and to increase of the soreness with the movement.
  • Tendinitis – inflamation of the tendons of the muscles .Most often it comes from repetative movements with resistance. The symptoms are pain with movement , redness and oedema in the targeted area.
  • Avascular necrosis – it is provoked from interrupting the blood circulation of the bone. The reasons could be different – traumas, dislocations of the femur bone, different diseases like diabetes, pancreatitis and etc. Typical is the pain in sitting, standing and other force movements , it is releasing only while in rest position.

The Physiotherapy, which is a combinated treatment of electrotherapy, manual therapy and exercises will decrease your pain , strengthening of the muscles around the hips and prevention of following complains.
